Just tossing this out. If you were a white racist, wouldn’t you prefer to see minority faces taken off of products? Imagine if all products used ad images like Little Debbie in the future?
As an aside. When I was a little boy, I hated girls, as many little boys did. I’d see Little Debbie snack foods at the store and didn’t want anything to do with them because of their ad logo picture. That’s why I suspect taking minority faces off of products might play into some folks’ bigotry. I really don’t give two shits at this point. You do you, companies.

The problem is for some folks I think what they are thinking is they don’t want to see comforting reminders of the past change. Unfortunately, for those who are isolated and tone deaf, they project the opposite of comfort to minorities, especially black folks.
Aunt Jemima, for instance, could harken back at least to the days of share cropping when a large number of southern black women worked as domestic servants for wealthy white families. The bigots don’t mind reminders of blacks in subservient positions.

In the case of the high fructose corn syrup spread, they were using a former slave as the logo, and the name came from a minstrel show. I’m sure racists loved that.
Maybe they could do a line with pictures of Sherman or John Brown on them.

I t’s arguable that the exact opposite is can be made a case for in that some African Americans look up to the products as people that made a name for themselves in times of considerable depression. And debatable that it was an influence for them to buy their products:
I’m sure ABL is not an outlier in regards to this.
